I am a 26-year-old South African qualified bioinformatician and photography enthusiast.
I was born and raised in Forest Hills, a small suburb just outside of Durban. From a young age, I have been passionate about everything wildlife related. You can find me fishing, birding, kayaking, diving, mushroom foraging or taking photos in my spare time. While I am currently based in the Western Cape with my beautiful wife, we hope to return home to KwaZulu-Natal in the future.
After completing high school in KZN, I moved down to Stellenbosch to pursue a BSc in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. I specialised in genetics and microbiology, and ultimately decided to continue with an Honours degree in the latter. I was fascinated with the intersection of computational and biological sciences, and decided to enrol for an MSc in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, which I completed in 2024. I learnt many new skills in a short amount of time, and now have experience with a range of languages and specialised tools.
